Will a faster SSD improve NT8 performance? I tested 4 drives to find out

In my last two posts I looked at how the CPU and RAM affect Strategy Analyzer Optimization and Market Replay completion times. I am now testing different storage drives to see if I can extract additional performance.

The drives I tested were:
1.) Samsung 980 Pro 1TB NVMe
2.) Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SATA
3.) Western Digital SN730 512GB NVMe
4.) DDR5 RAM Drive 30GB

Again, it’s not an exhaustive review but maybe it can help if you’re looking for some PC hardware and NinjaTrader performance metrics.

The results are posted to my Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/lfMINsRxeNA

I think I got a live demonstration of how Ninjatrader does not care about disk speed.
My data mining ate up the entire hard disk space of my VPS I only noticed 12 hours later when i checked the log file of one of the 40 strategies which are were running totally fine, had been trading on the demo account the entire day perfectly without any bugs…i could not understand why the logs had stopped 12 hours back when everything was running smoothly, and thats when i saw a 12 hour old error message saying, there is no disk space…

Same thing with RAM I have a 32 GB RAM VPS and so far ninjatrader has refused to consume more than 8 GB…the UI slows down if i dont restart for a couple of days…but never increases its RAM usage.

I only run strategies in headless mode and have no charts open.

Another excellent video @BobbyKeefe, thank you for making it. My favorite part was that you even tested a RAM drive. Looking forward to your next NinjaTrader video.
