NT8 speed tested on 4 different computers

I was looking for faster Strategy Analyzer Optimization completion times. So I bought a new computer and compared Strategy Analyzer Optimization and Market Replay performance against 3 other computers I had.

The CPU’s of the computers were:
1.) AMD Ryzen 9 9950x desktop
2.) Intel Core i7 14700k desktop
3.) Intel Core i7 12700k desktop
4.) Intel Core i7 1360p laptop

It’s not an exhaustive review but maybe it can help if you’re looking for some PC hardware and NinjaTrader performance metrics.

The results are posted to my Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/rJZIRCjQTvo

Nice review. The highest single-core clock speed will always win when it comes to NT8. Even though the software is multi-threaded, they definitely force way too much work on single threads.

Now, toss in an NVIDIA Video GPU in the mix. My testing concurred with your results and the AMD. The Video board was a significant upgrade.

No issues on an i7 8700k with a bunch of charts and programs opened. My RTX 2080 Super barely struggles. You don’t need anything super expensive to run Ninja.

my hackers are suppressing my processor core cycles down to individual threads in simulaion mode.

Thanks for that info. I run NinjaTrader on a very similar set of machines and recently compared them. My somewhat complex code is hitting bottlenecks before maxing out the CPU or disk. Currently my systems run at about 30-50% CPU, but I’ve run simple strategies that can max the CPU. It’s very easy to add code that causes NT to not to use the full CPU or disk. I’ve done extensive testing, but still can’t figure out exactly where is getting throttled.

Here are my PC results:

  1. AMD Ryzen 9900X 4.4GHz DDR5-6000 (12 core, 24 logical processors). About 12% faster than #2. ($450)
  2. Intel i-14900K 3.2GHz DDR-6000 (24 cores, 32 logical processors). About the same as #3. ($450)
  3. Intel i9-13900K 3.0GHz DDR-6000 (24 cores, 32 logical processors) ($550)
