Sorry, but can’t you at least come up with an update that doesn’t cause any problems? All indicators are gone, the scripts are no longer usable. I uninstalled the crap, and at least everything is running in the old version again. That’s really annoying to be surprised with that just before the market has opened …
It actually has a lot of new and improved things: https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpguides/nt8/NT%20HelpGuide%20English.html?8_1_5.htm
I think this version has the most new features in a long long time!
excellent.
Yes, that is true. But it doesn’t help, if it creates issues with the script. I’ve asked the support and probably we’ll get it solved soon like always.
I am unable to access my strategies nor most of my indicators with this new version.
Uninstalled and reinstalled my backup until you get this fixed.
@pipandrun Did you lose workspaces? Was everything gutted just like a new install? Do your indicators compile in the new version ninjascript editor?
It sounds like I have to reimplement my old go to rule. Only use a version that is two iterations old, and let everyone else ride out the bugs in the new release.
I’m very curious that if every time there is a C# 8 Roslyn update and a NT8 new release, if everything goes crazy? I’d love to hear some opinions.
Very good job by the NinjaTrader Team with the new edition. The addition of the Ichimoku Indicator alone (and not poor, inaccurate or partially accurate knockoffs by less experienced programmers) was worth it. But the upgrade also helped me identify some sticky problems with Windows, OneDrive, and what was doing to my documents folder, not allowing me to unlink ‘fully’ from OneDrive even after uninstalling the cloud service. After a couple of tries resolving that issue, things are really working much smoother. See, not all of the problems are due to the program. Some are created by the OS, itself. Well, I look forward to using the new version. Thanks again.
The release is working now.
I’ve deleted my custom Ichimoku-indicators (cs.file). They caused the trouble.
If someone is interested how to do this:
Go to the folder documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\Indicator\ - delete the indicator(s)
Open NT, go to the NinjaScript Editor, choose any indicator and compile (button in the head or F5)
Restart NT. Then I’ve installed the new release and it is working now.
This is wild. I had the same Ichimoku indicator.
Deleted it and it worked.
It is wild that NT developers assume no name collisions.
Does the new ICHIMOKU indicator have a reference to a website in the description?
No. (The Ichimoku Cloud is a charting tool that shows potential support and resistance areas, trend direction, and momentum using a set of moving average-based lines and a shaded area called the ‘cloud.’ It helps users observe how price interacts with these components over time.)
Nor in the release note (The Ichimoku Cloud is now available as a built-in indicator. It calculates support/resistance levels and trend direction based on five lines: Conversion (Tenkan),Base ( Kijun), Leading (Senkou) Span A, Leading (Senkou) Span B, and Lagging (Chikou). The cloud formed between the Leading (Senkou) Spans can help users visualize potential trend strength and market equilibrium. This indicator is configurable and designed to fit various analytical styles.).
The new version of Ninja Trader has stopped loading the history of quotes from FXCM broker. Updating all historical data does not help. What to do now? What is the problem?
Some nice touches. IchiMoku is not for me but I thought the BarTimer changes were nice EXCEPT that they left out TextPosition.Center. Weird - because who would want the clock to be Giant Size and in the centre of the chart…
And time highlighter is long overdue - can now connect it to a news feed and it’s reliable i hope.
Finally - like everyone here i always quarantine new updates and this did the traditional f***k everything up the minute it installs. I would like to suggest that NT use an idiot user ( I am available) as a guinea pig just to sort out a lot of the easily solvable issues eg someone else has a cs named ichimoku. Not rocket science that one.
Thank you for this!
I was having the same problem and could not get the compile issues cleared up and gave up on it.
I deleted the (cs.file) as you described and the rest of the steps and it now works.
Before doing this even most of my other custom indicators would not plot using the new release.
For me the time highlighter feature creates a thin vertical bar at the current tick bar, even if the bar is not in the configured time yet. I hope this makes sense.
Does it make sense at all to put comments like this here since this is not even monitored by NT? Is this new forum a step back?
I don’t understand why they made the time highlighter as part of the Chart Settings, surely it should have been an indicator.
Unfortunately, yes.
Without NT Support participation, it is a very big step backwards.
I mean, it’s not only the lack of NT support that’s a step backwards. The new forum software also feels like a step backwards.
