Continuum Connection vs. New Live Connection

In the new Live Connection we are being forced to switch to by end of March 2026, Depth of Market only displays 7 points, (28 tics) of price levels as opposed to 40 points, (160 tics), or higher using the Continuum.

All of my settings are the same in the DOM and on my charts and the new “Live” connection will not increase the amount and subscribed to Level 2.

Anyone else have this issue and or a solution?

i’m having a problem with the new connection as well. Trade copier works on Continuum, but not the Ninjatrader Connection. Support is absolutely useless telling me to check with vendor.

No… Mrs. Support… it’s not the copier, it’s your connection.

Yes, I also noticed the reduced number of depth levels going to the new Live connection. It seems to be 30 ticks. A HUGE downgrade from Continuum’s much higher value.

What’s even more ridiculous is the 10 levels of depth you get with Kinetick! I don’t know what they were thinking there.

Support for the NinjaTrader Continuum connection in the NinjaTrader Desktop app will end on March 31, 2026.

Thanks Marcus. I think everyone who has Continuum accounts already received an email from NT and is aware that they need to transition to the new Live connection by 3/31.

If you read the topic in the link below, there seems still to be people who have no clue about that email they should have received…

besides tiny ES dom mentioned above, Live connection lags bad in 8.1.6.3. I have a lot cme instruments in my workspace and live feed just lags with any market move (not just seconds - it drops back like 5-10 minutes, on ES and NQ). It’s practically unusable. No lag on kinetic continuum connection for me and DOM looks ok.

NinjaTrader responded to my inquiry regarding this issue. They did admit that the new connection has cut market depth levels from approx. 100 down to 30. The offered the following link to request a change to the product.

Please fill out this form and request the market depth levels be restored to the new mandatory connection. We are now paying more for less when other data services provide a lot more depth.

I never received an email. The only notification I got was a popup message upon logging in last night.

Set it up today and I am not impressed. It disconnected at 2:30et and never even tried to reconnect, fortunately I also have a rithimic connection so I didn’t even notice until later.

I’m having issues with this new thing as well. When I sign in, the Live connection shows in the drop down for connections, but when I chose configure, the Live connection is not there. I have a lifetime license but can’t get the benefit of using the Order Flow+, which is supposed to be free to those with a lifetime funded account. I’ve had my account since the days of Mirrus and the username and login have changed several times since then. I’ve tried the old ones but it does not update. At this point, not sure what to do with it. I thought about deleting my Continuum connection but have to admit that I’m afraid if I delete it, I won’t be able to either gt it back or maybe even get in at all.

Try creating a new connection and simply name it NT8. Then use your username and login as if you were logging into the website. The new “Live” connection just appeared in my connections when I did the most recent desktop update.

Contact Ninjatrader support directly for proper login instructions with your account. This forum is crowdsourced.

I found out the hard way the new live connection does not provide VIX data at the moment, even with a CBOE market data subscription. Since my strategy relies on VIX data, I wish they would have included that information when they told us we need to switch over. I contacted support and they said devs are working on a solution. Not even sure how this is even a problem. VIX is pretty standard lol

It seems VIX hasn’t been available on this new connection for years. And they still haven’t fixed it? This does not bode well for me. How is this even possible?

Which instruments(s) are you referring to here ? ES, CL, GC, or all instruments?

I looked at ES and NQ. They both had 30 levels of depth.

Thx for the confirmation. I use 50 levels now, 30 isn’t great but a lot better than 10

I have written several indicators using depth of market. They no longer work with the “LIVE” feed and I only use 5 levels of bid/ask. I trade NQ and ES. They work fine with Continuum.

How are you reading the depth of market? I have tools that read the depth using OnMarketDepth() and they seem to wok fine with the LIVE feed.

However, I noticed that reading of resting orders using OnOrderUpdate() doesn’t seem to be working with the LIVE connection. This is something I’m yet to look into.
