Kraken, after spending $1.5 billion for NT, must have run out of money, at least when it comes to supporting the product. This crypto-currency behemoth must have spent the money to get the regulatory licenses, not for further developing the product.
They started by taking the best tech support in the industry, firing the technicians, and turning it into garbage.
Now they’ve released an update without spending any money on user testing. It’s a disgusting piece of programming work. The new version refused to compile my custom indicators which worked fine in the old version.
I thought I had protected myself by doing weekly backups–wrong.
Re-installed the old version and was told that my indicators couldn’t be installed because they would cause system incompatibilities.
Did some research and discovered that the NT backup file is a zip file, you only need to change the suffix to zip. I extracted all my indicators and, over three days, was able to recompile many of them in the NT editor one by one. Those that I couldn’t re-compile, I was able to re-install from the original zip files. Rue the day I purchased a lifetime license and started investing my time in creating NT indicators. Let’s all go to the industry forums and spread the word, “Let the NT buyer beware!”
Lifer here, too. NT’s worse then before? I wouldn’t have thought it possible. Thanks for the warning on the update, wow. SLAVA UKRAINE, from Texas
@ALon posted something very encouraging in the “NinjaTrader 8.1.6” thread at
It looks like the NinjaTrader development team really is looking into the concerns raised in this forum, or at least the same concerns that were emailed to their support team.
Thank you to @ALon and those community members that were able to provide the NinjaTrader team with specific issues they experienced with version 8.1.6 so that they know what to test and fix for the next version.
Got the same answers from the support and this inbetween 2 seconds. Seems that all answers are AI generated
Thank you @Andre_Ring for this insight. I hadn’t thought of that as being a possibility as the answer sounded so “human” and because it seems to me that the NinjaTrader team would have to know about the loading time issue and would have a really high incentive to fix it in the next release. Hopefully at least a human wrote the actual message and the team is actually looking at the loading time issues that are being reported to their support email address, and then NinjaTrader’s AI is simply returning the actual answer written by the human who actually knows what the team is doing. My best guess is that the NinjaTrader team is actually doing what the message said, but I guess in the world of help desk LLMs that can write really human-sounding answers one can’t rule out the other possibility.
Yes. " …the issues with 8.1.6.0 are being taken very seriously. Our team is actively testing a fix and will release an update as soon as it’s ready."
That was posted 29 days ago. I’m sure that the whole team has been working night and day and weekends to rectify the mistakes they created. Their one part-time coder has just been too busy to post the new code for us. Bless their lying hearts!
Communication is not great. The old forum has the best tech support, it’s a drastic change.
I agree, old support staff was great. I would not have been able to use AI to program if not for occasional nudge in the right direction from real humans. Now I get more support on discord from NT competitors.
