User-Based Vendor Licensing

Any other vendors experiencing major issues with User-based licensing? My strategy only works for half my clients

  • I tried upgrading to the latest NT versions
  • I tried downgrading to other NT versions
  • contacted support
  • triple checked for typos in the ecosystem dashboard

Anyone got any solutions?

Hi @oklama,

If it works for some of your clients but not others, could it be that the ones it doesn’t work for are using a version of NinjaTrader lower than version 8.1.6.2? The user-based licensing system is unlikely to work on versions below 8.1.6.2. Here is the screen in Quagensia N Edition that allows users to select either the user-based licensing system or the Machine ID-based system, including a warning about versions of NinjaTrader below 8.1.6.2 as well as other commentary about each kind of vendor licensing that you or others may find valuable.

If this is not the issue, maybe another community member could help you as they have graciously helped me with vendor licensing system questions in the past.

Best regards,

Brook from Quagensia

Generally, assuming they’re on a current version of NinjaTrader, the problem will be that they signed up with you using a different email address than they have on their brokerage account.

Yes I had the same issue two weeks ago where most of my clients couldn’t use my products anymore. Ninjatrader confirmed that there was some server issue they were facing and that the fix was only applied to the latest NinjaTrader version 8.1.7.1.

Products started working after folks updated.

We shouldn’t forget that NT has had licensing issues in the past with the machine ID based licensing. Servers can go down at any time. It’s the nature of the beast with software, hardware, the internet involved.
