Subject: Single-click BuyStop with draggable SL/TP lines before fill?

Hi everyone,

I recently transitioned to NinjaTrader. While I find it to be an incredibly fast and reliable platform, I am struggling to replicate a specific order entry workflow from my previous software.

Is it possible (via native features, free add-ons, or paid third-party tools) to achieve the following?

  • Place a BuyStop order directly from the chart with a single click (or button) at a pre-configured distance (e.g., 30 ticks from the current market price).
  • The order must include a pre-configured OCO (Stop Loss and Take Profit).

The key issue: I need the SL and TP lines to be visible and draggable directly on the chart immediately after placing the pending BuyStop. Currently, NT only allows modifying the SL/TP via the chart after the BuyStop has been filled and becomes a working position.

Being able to drag the SL line on the chart before entry is crucial for my risk management, allowing for fast, real-time customization based on market conditions.

If native chart-modification of pending OCO orders isn’t possible, could this exact workflow be replicated using a single-click button within the DOM/ATM?

I apologize if this is a basic question or if I am missing an obvious setting, but I really can’t seem to replicate this specific efficiency on NT8.

I accomplish what you describe by turning on a setting known as “Server Side ATM’s”. You can get all the details about that setting here:

I think it works very well. It’s a lot like the chart trading features you find on all of the other trading platforms.

Why does NT8 not enable this by default? Because it’s not supported by every broker. But if you use NT as your broker then server side ATM’s are supported.
