Does anyone trade micro’s, on NinjaTrader brokerage I can see the commisions are over 3 times high compared to standard and then there is higher spread and lower volume and towards the end of the day the two charts look totally different. My original plan of generating signals on standard instrument and trading on micro seems unworkable. Also does anyone trade MBT MET BTC ETH on ninjatrader brokerage, the standard margin here is every high, so while leverage on GC is almost 500, leverage on BTC is less than 10. Any comments…
I did an analysis of the difference between MNQ and NQ for a period of 20 days. Only RTH.
I took 5 minute data.
I had in total 65,520 quotes (open, high, low & close).
The result was as follows:
- difference 0 ticks: 37%
- difference 1 tick:41.2%
- difference 2 ticks:14.5%
Total 92.70%
I also checked the close.
The result was as follows:
- difference 0 ticks: 33%
- difference 1 tick:41.5%
- difference 2 ticks:18.25%
Total 92.75%
Some remarks:
- Quotes for NQG are not always “better” than MNQ, as you trade long as well as short.
- Trading NQ or MNQ is fairly volatile, so when you enter an order you never know what the exact price of execution will be, as prices can be better or worse due to the volatility.
- My experience is that, if you don’t have a track record that confirms that you are a consistently profitable trader, you better start with MNQ as losses are 10 times smaller and compensate largely for the higher commission. Once you reached the level of a consistently profitable trader you can switch to NQ.
- Losing 1 point will cost you in NQ $20 and $4 commission. Total -$24. Losing 1 point will cost you in MNQ $2 and $2 commission. Total -$4.
I’m trading Micro’s. I don’t notice any issues with spread trading MES but the fees are extremely high on the free plan.
