Retail Trading Pits

Most new traders get herded into retail pits—mindset seminars, shiny indicators, funded-account hype. A few who think beyond the noise step out and profit from the crowd’s drift. Trading isn’t confined to exchanges; the market is everywhere, all the time.

has anyone here found any new tools or methods to simulate the kind of market feel those old pits had? I’ve been exploring different DOM setups and volume profiles, but nothing quite captures that same sense of flow. Would love to hear how others try to recreate that experience in a screen-based setup.

@ImmortalSun - There probably is no way to recreate open cry auction pits. The world has evolved and moves a lot faster. Level 2 data rules now.

Simply use alerts and record what you want with each alert. It’ll approximate what you’re looking for

Have you explored some of the tools that can give audio feedback based on market action (eg: TickStrike or Bookmap)?

I’ve personally done something similar to what Maverick mentioned with alerts. I used an AI voice generator to create audio snippets specific to the custom alerts. In effect, NT can “talk” to me about various market conditions. It was a fun experiment, but honestly isn’t that useful.

It depends on how you go about it.

I’ve built price action indicators based on price behavior so that I’m notified if I’m in front of the screen.

I also include telegram alert, so If I’m not infront of my screen, then it comes to my phones. (You can find telegram notification for NT8 for $20)

The whole purpose of it is to reduce fatigue and save mental capital.

Starting off trading, you’re seating behind the screen, absorbing price behavior, but after 4 years, you want to only pay attention to ‘points of interest’, areas where you can make a decision.

Here’s the secret sauce:

After you’ve absorbed the price patterns, use audio alert and Telegram alerts.

The audio alert will act as an audiotory cue, (sometimes I might not hear it, like if I’m outside mowing the yard)

But with the telegram alert, I can include pictures of the chart, allowing me to make a decision as to if I should go to the screen and enter the trade.
