Paying for Multiple Accounts but Limited to 2 NT8 Connections — Request for Policy Change

Hello,

I’m reaching out because NT8’s current connection limits are creating real constraints for my workflow. NT8 Desktop is not always stable, and with only two allowed connections for both development and production, I’m not getting the value I expect based on what I pay.

Here are the reasons I believe I should have access to more connections:

  • I own an NT8 lifetime license, which should include a reasonable number of platform connections.

  • I maintain multiple funded brokerage accounts (Legend and others). Each account is billed at full monthly price, including NT8 connectivity. If I have five accounts, I should reasonably be able to connect 5×2 sessions.

  • I also pay for NT8 data feeds, which should likewise provide additional connection capacity.

On top of that, NT8 Desktop can hang, freeze in the middle of a trade, or crash entirely. When I use Level II or Order Flow indicators, the platform slows down significantly. Running multiple NT8 instances is not a luxury — it’s a necessary workaround to keep trading functional when the platform becomes unstable. If NinjaTrader truly wants NT8 to be the best platform for discretionary and automated trading, performance and stability need to improve dramatically. The goal should be a platform that can run 24/7 for months without a single crash.

Regarding the web platform, I can understand that the trading interface counts as a connection.
But the non‑trading parts of the website — settings, account management, the store to purchase market data, checking balances — should not consume one of my limited connections. These are administrative pages, not active trading sessions.

Also, from a customer perspective, the current system is inconsistent. Technically, I could create a different email for each broker and get as many NT8 connections as I have accounts. But why force customers into workarounds? A fair and logical approach would be:

One email login → N accounts → N×2 connections.

This aligns with what customers pay monthly, and those fees are not small.

Given the amount I pay monthly, plus the lifetime license and data fees, I believe I’m entitled to more than two connections — or at minimum, a platform stable enough that I don’t need multiple instances just to protect myself from freezes or crashes.

Please escalate this to management and product design. I’ve been a loyal customer for many years, and I hope these concerns can be addressed seriously.

Thank you,
– w

@wil70 - I’m assuming you have not got any satisfaction from actually calling customer support at NT.

Unless someone is having this same situation on this small forum, I think you might get better response from some of the more experienced on https://nexusfi.com/. They have seen it all and some even run or have experience with Virtual Private Servers (VPS).

Correct @Robotman — CS is always polite and quick to close tickets, but they rarely help move issues forward. I’ve reported bugs that took a year or two to get fixed and sometim enever fixed, and it often takes so much effort to convince support that I end up giving up after a few rounds of emails.

This specific issue really needs upper‑management involvement, because only they can change the connection‑limit policy. The monthly proce per broker account is high and include NT8 everytime, even if I laready have lifetime license, so at least give us more NT8 instances. More NT8 instances would genuinely help users deal with the platform’s current performance limitations.

Thanks for the advice — I’ll also post on NexusFi. Those discussions usually lead to workarounds, but the core problem still needs an official solution.

Please drop a +1 if you want this issue addressed as well.

It’s important that you understand this is not a place that NinjaTrader normally responds. This is a forum for peer support. They do not necessarily even read these posts unless there is a moderation or compliance-related complaint. If you’re trying to reach NinjaTrader, you need to reach out to them directly. They provide this forum for us to communicate with each other, but it is not an official support venue.

I agree with you that N funded accounts should provide for Nx2 connections. But, that message isn’t going to reach the powers that be through posting here.
