In March I had to move to NT 8 like all the other NT 7 users. I wasted two months since. This software is a desaster, compared to NT 7, which I was using for more than 15 years without serious problems.
There are two ways: Subscribe to Kinetick because it doesn` t send millions of unfiltered tick data like Rithmic, wich results in a data overload and is absolutely unnecessary.
To get NT 8 running:
MOST IMPORTANT: ENABLE MULTI PROVIDERS!!!
Dont`t make any changes when connecteted
Of course and well known, indicators should be set to bar close if possible
If it freezes, don`t waste time. Shut it down by the task manager.
Delete the UI file and the whole db folder, this is faster than erasing every single folder
Restart and wait until the latest workspace is automatically loaded, you see empty chart windows
Watch the task manager until NT 8 is writing no more data on the storage, 0 %
Make your changes and save the workspace
Connect, open the workspace and wait, it takes time
AT ANY MOMENT THE MOUSE DOESNT REACT AND CHARTS DON`T MOVE, YOU ARE LOST AND HAVE TO DO THE SAME PROCEDURE LIKE DESCRIBED BEFORE. WAITING IS ONLY WASTING TIME
Yeah, that`s what they tell you at Ninjatrader. It is a fairy tale. My certain indicators are running under the given circumstances but the problems remain after almost ervery change.
I wrote these hints for users who think they are doeing something wrong after they followed all the insctructions. I guess it will be helpful for some Desperados.
Of course it might be running with the on board indicators, but they are worthless. So again, once it is running with my indicators it could be running for months without problems. NT 8 is simply writing junk into the mentioned folders.
Sorry, my intention is not to discuss the issue, I just give help to people who experience the same problems. If you are not affected by this, congratulations and fat gains.
Iāve seen people complain about issues like this and I often think itās because of their indicators. Have you tried to have LLMs audit your code? Itās probably worth looking into. You probably can have your indicator re-written within a day.
If compiling is successfull, why re - writing? This is money for nothing. Once again: Its not the indicators, its the whole architectur and if you want to offer me a re -writing I`m not interested.
Just because it compiled successfully doesnāt mean itās optimized. Yes it CAN BE the indicators. An indicator having many code running at O(n) or O(n^2) is significantly different than O(1). An indicator using the UI thread for logic rather than using a different thread is significantly different than one that properly uses it. No Iām not offering a re-write. I specifically said āhave LLMs audit your codeā and didnāt offer any services. I wouldnāt even do it if you asked me and paid me to do it.
You literally just joined and complained. You deleted several of your comments and mentioned NT support told you itās your indicator. You mentioned that NT runs fine with their own indicators. The obvious issue is your indicator since NT runs fine based on your comment. You think just because it compiled then itās fine, but I disagreed and gave you examples. I suggested to use an LLM to audit your indicator and you get mad about it and now want to leave?
I want to kee the topic clean and ask you to delete your posts, if I knew where this would lead to I wouldn`t have writen any answers, so please do me that favor.
Instead of looking at your indicator as a potential issue, you just blame NT. Your solution is literally to nuke all the folders instead of identifying the root cause, which is most likely heavy and poorly optimized code in your indicator.
This is adressed to people who have the same problems, seems too difficult to understand for you. I dont need your screenshots like nobody else doesnt need it.
The screenshot isnāt meant for you. I donāt understand why you are so mad about me suggesting for you to use an LLM to audit your code for performance issues. If they have the same problem as you then it means itās their indicator and they should look at the root cause and not just nuke folders and set the calculation to on bar close (unless they donāt need to calculate on each tick). Iām done here though. Have fun always deleting these folders.
Yeah, because I have old indicators you don`t find anywhere and you cannot buy it anymore. I collected it over more than ten years, so I let the scripts write by the AI for NT 8. Like I have been reading, there are many people with the same problems, the problem of NT 8 ist that it is using only one processor core. I asked one guy how much it would be to re - write one very basic indicator for NT 8, he demanded $ 900. With the help of AI done in 30 minutes for free. Don`t ask how much re -writing 10 very complex indicators would costā¦
i get frequent āpausesā with 8.1.7.2 and occassional disconnections. Iāve confirmed itās not my VPS and not FOREX.COM but the connection between NT and forex. Iāve submitted āpathpingā data that I donāt understand that tells my VPS the location of the problem is in New York. Sounds like upgrading from windows xp to Vista
try a different operating system you might be surprised to find out why Saddam Hussein was actively using 5 laptops when he was found. But i canāt give details.

And that`s the diffrence, this one guy didnt understand or used the topic for a private battle: Once NT 8 it is running, it could run forever if not disconnected, not depending on any indicator. IĀ“ve been a fool to answer it at all. So for me it`s enough to know what to fight against and how to find the solution.
