No audio and no sound for alerts for NT

I’ve had this no audio ever since last year. I’ve tried everything:

  1. resetting and updating my audio drivers on windows
  2. Allowed applications to take exclusive control of device and gave exclusive mode applications priority
  3. rebound my audio files (.wav) to each type of alert
  4. uninstalled, upgdated and downgraded to previous version of NT when alerts were still working
  5. uninstalled and installed new NT and renamed NT8 folder in documents so that it doesn’t load my old workspaces. New default NT8 didn’t have audio either.
  6. ran NT in safe mode with no add ons
  7. submitted trace files for NT customer support to diagnose

I can hear audio coming from chrome, spotify and other applications perfectly fine. There was an issue where NT wasn’t showing up in my sound mixer list but i found a way to force it show up - however, still no audio working even when NT application is showing up as full volume on sound mixer.

I’ve submitted a ticket to NT support and they were unable to successfully help me with my issue. Their suggestion was to do a live call session but i’ve been unable to setup time due to my schedule and i’m trying to avoid running the same troubleshooting over and over again. Wondering if any one out there has had this same problem and fixed the issue. i have tried everything.

You should go by elimination:

  • Did you find on internet people who have the same problem? If not, it means that Ninjatrader cannot be the cause.
  • Other applications seem to work well, so it probably has nothing to do with (the standard settings of) Windows. It also means that it is not a hardware problem.
  • The fact that you forced it to show up, shows that you should find out why it did not show up, as it should. If you force something to show up it is highly probable that it will not work. There is a reason why it did not show up, forcing it did not help as probably other things (that would be installed in a standard correct installation) are still missing.

I have no solution for you, but I think that the first rule in problem-solving is: elimination. Try to reduce the area in which the problem occurs. Reset all settings everywhere to their default values. And start from there. It clearly is a local problem caused by you, not by windows or Ninjatrader.

After weeks of troubleshooting this issue, i have finally come to a FIX and SOLUTION!

Go to windows settings>system>recovery>fix problems using windows update>reinstall now
After pressing that button, windows should prep your computer for an repair fix.
If your update is stalled or keeps resetting, google a fix for that specific issue.
Wait for windows to update/fix and restart your computer when prompted.
Login to your ninjatrader account and you should be able to hear sounds. NT also shows up on my sound mixer too.

Don’t worry about losing data, software and other applications. This method is NOT a factory reset but instead fix and repair method of windows 11.
