I built a strategy that does its own order management so that I can have multiple quantity with their own stops and take profit orders. It was working seemingly fine until I loaded the new version of ninja trader. This morning it has crashed each time it reaches the step of cancelling the unused order. At that point the entire UI crashes and I have to restart. The first time when it re-opened I still had two stoploss orders on the chart, the second time this morning all orders were closed. The log file doesn’t show anything except a “Session Ended” message. Any idea how to debug this?
Rename or delete your sound folder in program files → NinjaTrader 8 and re-test (only if this report is specific to NT 8.1.8.0). You can also try disabling the order sounds in tools → settings → general. Be sure to restart the platform for a clean test.
I will try that. Not for nothing but the last trade it made it did so successfully. So I am not sure what the combination is but I will remove the sounds and post an update.
Thank you!
I had a similar issue recently — NinjaTrader froze and crashed mid‑trade while using an ATM. In my case the cause turned out to be my VPN interfering with the platform’s connection. Once I disabled it, the crashes stopped.
Your setup is different, but if you’re running a VPN it may be worth checking whether it’s affecting order handling.
