Some years ago, I purchased a plug-in for NinjaTrader 8. In order for me to use it on any device, the seller had to manually activate it after giving him the Machine ID. I have a new computer since then and can’t get it activate on my new system because the seller has passed away. His wife, who was handling his affairs, has passed as well.
I’m curious as to whether or not someone can help me get the plug-in to work on my new system.
Since both principals who made a decision on your access to the tool are not available, you’ll probably have to count this as a sunk cost, unfortunately.
Alternatively, you could find a coder and have them rebuild it from scratch.
That’s the fault line with third party indicators, but it can’t be helped, I suppose.
I was hoping that there was some way that the plug-in itself could be worked around to remove whatever feature it was blocking access. But, I have no idea how this stuff works.
This is very sad, sometimes one ends up investing so much time around a particular tool that that tool not working because of licensing issues can be a very huge loss. This is again one of those factors I guess (like the risk of having money in brokerage account which disappears with the broker sometimes) which makes trading a real challenge, making 4x a year becomes a necessity because otherwise its just not worth the risk and time and effort required for running a trading strategy, no matter how automated it is…
