I used to use the IB gateway, it worked flawless. Now I’m trying the multi broker add-on again using TWS and have to say I’m not half as good.
- ATM orders SL/TP orders get split sometimes, especially when using a copy trader.
- Often I’ll end up with open positions with out sl/tp
- Constant popup warnings about repricing orders, this did not happen with the gateway
- When you click BUY/SELL market when in a position, NT sends these orders as ‘buy to open’, and ‘sell to open’. But iBKR will not allow these orders to modify the open position and SL/TP if you have no margin. It doesn’t recognise that a sell market for example will reduce the existing position. So imagine this scenario:
You submit an ATM order with 4 contracts and associated sl/tp. It gets accepted, you know you don’t have any more margin to place any more orders. If you happen to cancel the ATM sl/tp, leaving your open position. You cannot do anything other than close the order, any attempt to submit a sell order to scale out of the position will fail because IBKR gives a margin error.
- Worst of all, I’m getting app crashes. I’m was unsure what it was but seems like it’s this: Sometimes when a SL/TP hits , the chart will freeze, requiring NT to be restarted. Happening dozens of times a day. I’ve tried all the ‘clear cache’ performance tips that they cut and paste you when you email in. Still crashing. When this happens the other charts are still responsive, but the account that crashed cannot be selected so I believe this tells me that the multi broker add-on is to blame.
