every time i change the font of the scale it resets itself to th small default setting - I click apply and save every time too

Do you have “Auto scale” enabled in the Data Series properties? That may be the culprit.

thankyou for the response but tht didnt fix it - if i even move off the tab or change timeframe it switches back
What version of NT are you using? Is it 8.1.6.x? I’m running the older 8.1.5.2 and I don’t seem to have any trouble getting a font change to persist. This maybe yet another bug in the latest versions (if you read the forums you’ll see there have been several).
Its the same on both versions
Can you clarify a little, which “both” are you referring to? When I tested setting the font size on my 8.1.5.2 install it worked just fine. If you’ve tried this version and are still having the same problem something very strange is going on. Perhaps you have some addons or libraries that are interfering. If you mean 8.1.6.0 and 8.1.6.1, frankly I’m not surprised at all.
I would backup your NT8 documents folder, remove it, then uninstall NT and perform a fresh clean install of 8.1.5.2 and test that.
