Reading Time and Sales

Hello,

I had a question I was hoping for some help with. When looking at the time and sales, what is the difference between the color coding for “bid” and “at bid” aren’t those two ideas the very same?

It is the same idea for “ask” and “at ask” they both show up as two different colors but I am not sure why.

The difference as I understand it is: one is an actual trade and one is just information.

The colors for Bid and Ask customize the colors for Bid/Ask price. This is when Bid/Ask prices change and you’ll get a line on T&S that indicates this update. These don’t show actual trade executions, just the fact that Bid/Ask changed. These only show up if you choose to show these values. You can turn these on/off by Right Click > Prices > Bid/Ask. If you have Bid/Ask on, it is going to make things really busy. You’re probably better off staying with just showing Last price on T&S and turn off Bid and Ask. This will show you actual executions. You can get the Bid/Ask price in the T&S header and don’t need them to show up in the window.

At Bid and At Ask colors apply to actual trades that took place. If execution price is at bid price or at ask price, then those colors apply to those. Above Ask and Below Bid indicate trades that executed at above/below ask/bid and indicate more aggressive action or sweeps.
