In his initial post, he did not tell that he was running it on a Mac.
Now it is clear what the cause of the problem is.
Did you try it already? And was everything still functioning after the clean up?
I am always afraid about apps that clean up things.
I did the same and it helped.
Sorry, should have specified. I wasn’t referring to Maverick. I don’t think he was arguing with me, but I know 618FIB was. Now I know who uses Parallels too. I remember him being so sure it was a NinjaTrader issue.
Not saying it can’t be for some, but using it within Parallels is now another layer of potential issues.
“arguing with me”? Really. LOL.
This is from Maverick’s post:
"My frustration is compounded by the fact that official NinjaTrader support appears unable to troubleshoot or resolve these issues. The timing of these failures often feels targeted, and discovering that the parent company is now a crypto-focused firm has unfortunately only added to my concern and mistrust.
The platform should be the solution, not the problem. Right now, it is the problem."
He did not argue with you, but the platform was the problem…
He was so sure it was a NinjaTrader issue.
My point was always about eliminating any variables that may have caused the issue. He obviously disagreed and told me to “stop all this nonsense about blaming this on 3rd party indicators”, which was a point I was also making to try it without them. According to him, “Version 8.1.6 was broken on arrival and needs to be fixed”, implying that NinjaTrader is the issue. I didn’t have any issues with my custom indicators and strategies. Many others didn’t have issues and some did, which is understandable since we all have different environments. In addition, he mentioned he “eliminated ALL other possible causes (variables)”, which he obviously did not since he is running it in Parallels based on his posts here.
The original poster and him run it in a virtual environment and have issues. From what I know, NinjaTrader doesn’t officially support Parallels. I’m not saying you won’t have issues running Ninja in native Windows, but running it in a virtual environment can cause different issues itself. Running in a virtual environment is not the same as running it natively. The virtual environment itself, can introduce issues with due to virtual GPU, network adapters, interfaces, displays, etc. These are simulated and can cause timing and performance issues and more inconsistent behaviors.
Hi everyone,
This is a follow-up to my thread about the persistent freezing and stalling I was experiencing with NinjaTrader. I have an update and, hopefully, a solution.
I decided to completely uninstall NinjaTrader from my computer. As many of you know, this can be confusing because the files are located in two different places (the Program Files directory and your Documents folder). I found that even after using the uninstall tool, there were still residual NinjaTrader files left on my computer. I made sure to delete everything manually to ensure a truly clean slate.
Here is the most important part of what I did next, which is different from my previous attempts:
-
I performed a fresh install of the new version (8.16).
-
I did not upload or restore my old backup file to the fresh installation.
-
Instead, I manually reapplied my entire framework (workspaces, settings, indicators, etc.) one by one.
This manual process ensured that I didn’t re-introduce any problematic files from my backup. While doing this, I compared the default DLL files in the new, clean install with my old installation. I realized my old setup had a large number of extra DLLs from various third-party indicators or add-ons.
I strongly suspect these conflicting or outdated DLLs were the core issue causing the performance problems.
After completing this fresh install and manually rebuilding my framework, everything works fine. It’s running smoothly, and the previous issues are gone.
Of course, the real test will be during the live market. I’m going to wait until Monday to see how it performs under real-world trading conditions, but I’m definitely hopeful for a significant improvement.
I’ll update you all again on Monday. I hope this process might help others who are experiencing similar frustrations.
Wish me luck ![]()
I’m starting to think the parallels virtual environment was never the issue. I am becoming more convinced that the root problem was “bloat” from external factors, specifically third-party indicators and all the extra DLLs they add.
My fresh install process, where I rebuilt my framework one by one, seems to support this. Although I’m still waiting for the live market test on Monday, I can already feel that the application is performing significantly better. The responsiveness has improved noticeably just from this cleanup.
You will not regret moving to Sierra!!! Opt for the Denali/Teton solution if you can. Many brokers can hook to it. It is the MOST rock solid platform on the retail space…by far. Good luck. More Historical data than you will ever want to look at. The live level 2 from the CME is 1400 levels.
A consideration for the future, certainly.
Great glad it worked out!
I think you’re in the wrong forum brother. ![]()
Nope. I speak truth. Just because you pedal software for this platform…doesn’t give you the right to comment on this thread…which is 100% on target. Ok…it’s well known…the issues traders are having. I pay for an account with this brokerage…like everyone else here…as well as several others… obviously. I’m here to help and guide…not sell crap. Go away please. Talk your talk somewhere else.
Its all good. No need for negativity and I’m referring to myself as well. Frustration sets in when money is involved hence my post, but going to back to the basics and reviewing my setup was a positive step.
I think Sierra Charts is very good and Ninjatrader too, its akin to Apple ios and Google Android.
All good.
No need for hostility my friend. To each their own obviously.
My comment was clearly a joke in case it wasn’t obvious from the emoji at the end. I’ve made the same joke in other settings and usually get a humorous response in return. First time I see someone lash out at this joke honestly. Maybe try a little humor next time.
Have a nice life.
#marcus - NT Optimizer, yes I’ve been using it for some time now (for cache clean). Share your reservations re: unknown .exes etc, but I tested it for a while on a backup pc first and it just seems to do what it says, no more no less
I feel that since the takeover by Kraken and the move by Ninjatrader from their forums to this “self-supported” discourse system, the whole Ninjatrader experience (stability, support etc…) has dropped big time. Sadly, I’m also thinking of moving over to another platform.
Just do it! You might like other platforms better.
