I saw the major issue with sound crashing the platform on 8.1.8 and I know there is 8.1.8.1 that is supposed to fix this.
I am on 8.1.5.2 and am questioning whether it’s time to get a little more current, even if I move to 8.1.7. Thing is, I have some very involved custom scripts and I know ninja likes to throw curveballs with regard to custom scripts when it comes to updating.
Are you guys experiencing stability on the newer versions?
I just updated NJ8 yesterday to the latest version, today my tick charts crashed while I was on my position and froze. I had to shout down everything and on my computer and log back in by the time I got it back I lost $1,100 with some change. The Schwab also didn’t sync to NJ8 even it show that the connection is active. I will remove it and go back to use the prior version.
Make sure you still have a download from 8.1.5.2 so that you can go back if the upgrade is a disaster.
Or make a backup that you can restore.
Are you sure you really need the upgrade? If not I would not upgrade. I am still on 8.1.5.2
What you can do too, is install the newer version on another pc and see what happens. I have an old computer on which I test each upgrade before upgrading my trading computer.
I like 8.1.8.1, no issues for me but i do also have all the older versions backed up as well in case anyone needs

I went ahead and updated - all quiet on the home front.
No issues updating this time when the last time I tried to go to 8.1.7 when it first came out I was drilled with compile issues and the platform was so sluggish it was unusable.
I went ahead and made backups of my scripts & also 8.1.5.2 in case this one backfired but so far all good.
ya i usually always wait at least a week or 2 before updating. I remember years ago ninja accidentally released a dev version when they were switching to 8.1 and need a hot patch
I use two dedicated systems that run ONLY NT 8. My active trading machine is 8.1.5.2 and the other machine has the latest. If the 8.1.5.2 machine crashes, I can exit on the other machine. Meanwhile, I can test the features and stability on the latest versions. So far, I like some things but NOTHING I found makes it worth switching until they can get as stable as 8.1.5.2. If you can, use dual setups. If anyone needs, I have 8.0.28.0 through 8.1.8.1 .msi files.

I also make at least once a month a complete back, so I can restore my PC within 15-30 minutes.

yeah i jumped 8.1.6 to 8.1.8 last month on a quiet weekend. charts came back fine, only weird bit was one custom indicator needed a rebuild after.
No, I didn’t. I updated it the day before. It was Sunday and I tested it on Sunday night when the market open but it was no issue because it was less movement I guess but on Monday live it froze while I was trading and I couldn’t figure it out why when I connect to Schwab the chart was empty. After I removed the latest version and downloaded the previous version everything came back to normal.
