@marcus Just in case you do in fact no longer come back to this forum, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve really appreciated your posts. You’ve posted some advanced and unique things that I’ve personally benefited from.
And as far as discourse is concerned, I have seen virtually no material benefit from this change of forum software. The old forum was more than adequate. IMO
It wasn’t just a change in software, it’s a change in the purpose of the forum. The old forums were a venue for support personnel to respond to issues/requests/errors en masse instead of individually by email, while the new Discourse forums are not monitored routinely by NT support, and are for peer discussions between vendors/developers - not intended for support purposes at all.
They are monitoring flagged posts, I have discovered. I posted a link to Ed’s level 2 indicator in the NT ecosystem, which, you know has been in the ecosystem since 2010 or so. Some over-zealous user flagged the post as spam and NT reversed the flag and reinstated the post. FWIW
Understood. I should be more clear - they (NT staff) do monitor these forums for compliance / rules type issues e.g. posts that should not be allowed. What I meant was, the old forums were a direct way to submit a “support request” or report an issue with the platform itself, while these new forums are not intended to be that venue - you’re supposed to email them directly.
Which begs the question: What are the people (NT employees, like Chelsea and Jesse), who used to monitor and reply to the old forum, doing with all of their time? Do they even still have jobs?
At least as of a year ago (but after the forum transition) some had been reassigned/promoted to do internal support, helping push the product forward, rather than public facing support, which makes sense, since it often makes sense to put the most experienced people where they make the most difference (which is not on the front lines).
