yesterday I watched it disconnect. my main computer on ethernet disconnected and didnt come back but my old laptop on wifi didnt disconnect. Neither one had a strategy running @EduardoT i wish ninjatrader’s tech support wasnt so bad as it is
if neither machine had custom scripts running and one dropped while the other stayed connected on the same network you are almost certainly hitting a concurrent login limit on the data feed, brokers only allow one active data stream per credential, if the laptop on wifi pings the server or requests a tick the broker’s risk engine instantly severs the primary ethernet connection to prevent data piracy. It is an infrastructure restriction at the clearing house level not a platform bug. this is exactly why institutional setups use dedicated co-located servers with leased lines instead of splitting home networks, unfortunately retail tech support will rarely explain network topography to you.
the connection that crashed was 3 funded next accounts. the laptop that stayed connected was an apex account. however they are using the same ninjatrader app login account
My NT lost connection and/or silently stopped receiving data updates 3 times today. This was while running on a vultr VPS with a 1gbit up/down that I moved to specifically to try to prevent this. I didn’t even have 3 times happen in a day while running at home. I don’t know what to do at this point
Who was your data connection with?
IQFeed?
Kinetick?
Preferred futures connection was set to “none” so I guess it was using to NinjaTrader. Should I switch it to Rithmic for NinjaTrader Brokerage?
I have been experiencing connection loss issues as well and I have a VPS. 4 “Panic” disconnects in 4 days at random times, longest one was 14 hours before I noticed and manually reconnected. Trace files show the trade WebSocket getting hit with ConnectionClosedPrematurely from Tradovate’s end while the price feed stays connected. NT retries 60+ times over 4 minutes before giving up. Looking at CrossTrade’s Data Watchdog as a workaround but hoping someone here has found an actual fix or got a real answer out of NT/Tradovate support.
FYI/Fwiw I’ve noticed ‘more than usual’ drops & slow connections a few times this week (Rithmic), which was disheartening as I felt I’d noticed an overall improvement especially at NYO recently & wondered if someone had upgraded their back-end infrastructure or whatever
Oh well, here’s hoping for next week!
Still no answers out of NT. I was hoping to see something about connection loss improvements in 8.1.7.0 release notes, but it seems like it’s not even on their radar.
seems this is a common issue. also got this problem.
